My first bike the NSR250 is odd choice for a beginners bike, especially one which is a poorly disguised RS250! With engine rebuilds and tweaking by Dog Fight Racing , a custom set of pipes from Harc pro , and a set of cloned NSR500 bodywork from the boys at Tyga Performance , it was not only the fastest 250 on the streets of Tokyo, but also the prettiest.
![]() The Japanese have no road worthiness test for 250's and under, so with a couple of indicators, a NSR250 rear light cluster, and a fog light stuffed into the unneeded ram air hole, I managed to ride the bike with not too much hassle from the Tokyo boys in blue, I just had to make sure that if the police ever got too close, I switched the bike off - that way I hoped they would mistake the engine temperature gauge for a speedo. Note the "pop-up" rear view mirror I added after being stopped for the umpteenth time for having no mirrors, it was usually folded up behind the screen, but I could flip it out with my right thumb if I was getting the wrong kind of attention. |
